Kidney Biopsy Day

 Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

In the hospital, and to people who know him well, Noah can be known as' a man with few words'. This can be very difficult as a parent, and especially at times like this when there is a lot going on.
Noah was having a rough morning anticipating what was to come and when Noah admitted to being scared, we knew reading and praying together was important.
We read Psalm 121 together and rejoiced in the truth that the Lord is our Keeper. He keeps our coming and going and He does not slumber when we are having a rough time.

Noah had his biopsy done at 1:00 this afternoon. He was very worried, and scared to be put to sleep this time. Things are still fresh from 6 weeks ago, and then 2 weeks ago. It's a lot to take on, and sometimes hard to accept that answers need to be found in a way that we don't like.
After the biopsy Noah had to lay on his back for a few hours until an ultrasound to ensure that there was no bleeding as a result.

After this ultrasound Noah was allowed to eat and drink and he enjoyed a Wendy's Baconator!

We were hoping to have received preliminary biopsy results tonight, but haven't heard anything yet. This means that we are spending Nother night at the hospital and we will hear something in the morning and the doctors will make a plan.
If there is a sign of rejection, Noah will be placed on IV steroid treatments for 3 days (on an outpatient basis!) and then a high, but tapering, oral dose.
If there is no sign of rejection, that means that Noah needs to be more hydrated and will likely need to mainain a 4L fluid intake at home. (It's pretty incredible how flushed a kidney likes to be!).
