Biopsy Update

Isaiah 55: 9

As the heaven are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This verse was part of a devotion that I read this morning. It said 'out of all the problems you have, your biggest problem is your small view of God? Maybe it’s time to broaden your understanding of the God who is bigger than big, closer than close and gooder than good.'
(Here is a link to the devotion in case you would like to read it too).

The Lord knew that I would need this reminder today, and that Noah also needed me to share it with him as we received disappointing news from his biopsy.

Noah's biopsy was insufficient for them to do all of the tests that they required. Not only does this mean that we still do not have any answers, it means that Noah needs to have another biopsy done.

This was not easy news to hear and there are many frustrations and questions that come along with it: why didn't they try harder to get more than one sample the first time? Can't we just treat on the assumption that this is rejection? Can we wait and see if Noah's creatinine levels drop on their own?

The answers:
Noah anatomy is complicated, so with how Noah was positioned for the biopsy yesterday, the doctor had trouble getting another sample. The hope is that next time around Noah will be positioned differently and it will be easier.
They could treat assuming that it is rejection, but they don't know the degree of rejection that they would be treating for and so, giving the wrong high dose of steroids cpuld ruin treatments down the road.
Waiting to see what happens means potentially leaving something untreated, allowing it to get worse.

This is of course still difficult news and Noah is not eager to be put to sleep again. I pray that one day he will be able to understand this all and be able to say that God is good and God was with him in even this.

Right now we are still waiting in hospital, but the idea is that we are discharged and go home, come back tomorrow for a biopsy and then go back home. Then, if required, we come back for treatments on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Noah's nurse was trying really hard to make sure that he can make it to school for his class' Secret Santa. We pray that he can still do this. He needs a break!
