We hope and pray that you were able to enjoy a wonderful summer, filled with rest and relaxation, visiting with friends and family and maybe even completing a long-awaited project.
We were blessed to have been able to spend 3 weeks on the East coast of Canada this summer! That was definitely the trip of a lifetime, and we made so many memories!
The timing of this trip could not have been better, and we are truly thankful that we were able to do it. Danielle is getting older and will soon have full-time summer work, Levi is old enough to travel well and remember this and Noah’s health has been stable, so he was able to enjoy it as well.

We use the word stable for Noah because that is what he has been during the past few years. His appointments have been regular but spaced out far enough that they haven’t been too much. The doctors have been telling us that he has been stable but reminding us that a kidney transplant is in the not-so-distant future. At a recent appointment in June, we were told that Noah is stable but declining, with his kidney function now being at 16% and that we need to start making plans for his transplant.
We were able to enjoy the summer off with no appointments but in a recent appointment, we were told that we should expect the transplant to take place in October/November of this year.
Things are moving along very quickly with Noah having appointments made for testing that needs to be redone so that things are up to date for the surgeons.
For those of you who may not know, Rob (Dad) is a donor match for Noah! With some up-to-date testing for Rob as well, we are ready for a transplant whenever we need to be.
With the Lord’s blessing, this transplant will have great benefits for Noah. He is already looking forward to having more energy and to being able to grow taller than Mom some day!
Surgery like this does not come without great risks and the recovery time is also quite extensive. Noah is expected to be in the hospital for a week and a half post-surgery and then they typically have transplant patients kept home from school and other activities for 3 months afterward, with appointments multiple times a week. With Noah entering Grade 8 and all the fun activities and tournaments that come with this, this has not been an easy thing to think about.
Rob’s recovery time is anticipated to be 6-8 weeks. We pray that the Lord will bless them with quick and smooth recoveries and that this will have its desired effect for Noah, with no complications.
All this information came at us rather quickly and has been a lot to take in. It has been hard not to feel overwhelmed. We are constantly reminded of the verse we chose for our blog, when Noah’s journey started: Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
This song has also provided comfort and reminder to rest in our ever faithful Heavenly Father.
We ask that you pray for all of us, but especially for Noah, as we plan and prepare for the life changing surgery.
