This past Tuesday was a full day for Noah. We went to this hospital for a DMSA Scan for his kidney.
With all of the bladder infections we thought Noah was having over the winter, we were getting a little worried about Noah's kidney. Noah only has 1 working kidney and it is not working at full 100% function. We need to do everything we can to protect this kidney.
This appointment required an IV, which meant some prep for Noah - he hates needles. When he found out that he had an apt coming up, his first question was if needed a needle. Usually I get to say 'no' and when I said 'yes' this time, he started crying immediately. The good thing is that with Noah getting older, we can explain things to him more and he understands the need for his appointments. It doesn't mean he likes them anymore, but he knows why we need them.
Noah was SUCH a brave boy. The IV was traumatic, but quick (it went in on the first try!) and then he had a medicine injected into the IV and then it was taken out! We then had 4 hours to wait before the medicine was fully in his kidney and the scan could take place.
Thankfully, Daddy came with for this appointment so we had company and we were able to visit a lot of the people that we know at the hospital - secretaries, surgeons and nurses - who all love to see Noah when he is healthy.

This is what going through the scan looked like, and why I say Noah was so brave. He laid so still throughout the scan, the attendant said she wishes all her children patients were like Noah! The scanner was constantly moving and was so close to his head at times, I thought it was going to hit him a few times.
We won't have the results of this test for about 1 week. We pray that the results will be good news and the Noah may carry on with a healthy kidney for years to come.
