This winter feels like it has been here forever. Of course, there have been times of lots of fun and happiness, but in our house there has also been much sickness. We are more than ready for winter to be over!
We have all had the flu a number of times...colds...Curtis had pneumonia not that long ago and Noah has battled with pneumonia, a partial lung collapse and numerous bladder infections.
This has been a regular sight on out white board to keep track of medication intake:
Noah is such a pro at taking his own medication, he was showing Curtis how easy it is to take medicine!
Noah recently had a bladder infection that required IV antibiotics. It all happened so quickly that we didn't really have time to think about it very much. After being treated for a bladder infection by oral meds, we did another urine sample at the paediatrician. She called back a number of days later telling us that his urine was growing a bacteria that is typically only treated with IV antibiotics. We were not expecting this at all and within 24 hours were in the hospital. This was a very hard thing to reason with because he was doing so well: not acting sick, happy, eating well.
In a way Noah good health made this hospital stay much easier because we did not have to watch him suffer and be in pain, but it was harder in that he was so much more active!

We packed a lot of stuff and Memory was one of them. Noah is quite good at this game!
Child Life provided us with many activities, and this mat with a bucket of cars and trucks was a favourite!
He sure doesn't look sick, does he!? He gave me and the nurses cause to panic playing like this as often as he could.
Grandpa (and Grandma) came for a visit - visitors are always fun!
Thankfully after all the results were in, the doctors informed us that Noah was able to be on oral medication and we were all to happy to head home!
Although hospital stays are not too frequent, they are definitely not becoming any easier. A huge thank you to those who were so quickly willing and able to watch Danielle, Jordan and Curtis during this hospital stay. A many thanks for the encouraging words, thoughts and prayers. We may not express our thanks often, but it is there, and runs deep.

What is with the board? Do they put in the IV in the elbow?
