All is Well

'Daddy, Mommy my best friend.'
This is what Noah told Rob tonight while sitting on my lap. Melts my heart!

Life in this Lenting house is going very well right now! We have been tremendously enjoying a long hospital break and having everyone home, together and healthy.
It is hard to believe how very different our lives were just a year ago and how very sick Noah was then. We spent some time reading blog posts from last year and it’s unbelievable to see how far Noah has come since then. What a relief! What a blessing!

Last year was filled with many disappointments and heartaches. Noah was constantly getting well and then getting sick again. We were all tired and stressed here at home. Winter and Christmas approached and they were not the usual joyous times that they are.

This year is much different! We are looking forward to winter and Christmas and all that comes with it. We’ve been spending time together and the kids and I have been doing crafts, they’ve been working with Rob on the house. When we go out shopping, Noah asks to go to ‘Tire’ to look at the Christmas decorations.
These moments are so precious to us!

Noah is doing very well. He continues to put on weight, albeit slowly. He’s talking full conversations and doesn’t miss a thing.
We have made the decision to hold off on a spinal surgery. This was a decision that was left up to us, and it is never easy to decide whether to be proactive and perform a surgery, or to wait and see what happens. Since Noah has been doing so well and hasn’t yet been home for a year, we decided to wait. Noah doesn’t complain of any pain in his back or legs and the tests showed that his muscle tone is the same in both legs, which is a good sign. We will revisit this in 6 months and see where we are at.

In a few weeks we meet with Noah’s team of doctors to make a plan of care for Noah and discuss further surgeries that need to take place. This is a hard fact to face, especially after last year - that Noah still faces more surgeries. It’s hard to think about him going through another one, let alone multiple, surgeries. We pray that the LORD will guide this meeting and the decisions that are made so that Noah will be adequately cared for, with nothing being overlooked and nothing being rushed.

One of these days, pictures will be posted. I promise!
