Noah has now been at home again for just over 2 weeks.
The first few days with Noah home were busy days. Our house is under construction and that week we had the drywallers here mudding and sanding, so the house was a MESS and we were not able to be home because of this. It made for busy days, being gone and only wanting to stay home and enjoy having Noah out of the hospital. But, the messy part of the renovations are all done and now we are very much enjoying being home and getting back into somewhat of a routine.
Last week Noah had an appointment with the orthopedics to take a look at his feet and legs. We are thankful that this determined that he does not need braces or special shoes at this point as his legs are still growing and are flexible enough that his feet are able to straighten on their own.
While at this appointment we also met with Noah's physiotherapist and were excited to receive a walker that Noah can use! Noah loves the independence this gives him, although there isn't a lot of room to use it here at home!
This past weekend Noah gave us quite a scare when his urine appeared to be cloudy (the usual sign of a bladder infection). In an effort to be proactive, I brought a urine sample to the hospital on Friday to have it checked and to let it 'grow' for 48 hours to see if there was indeed an infection. Over the weekend we became even more anxious when Noah also got a fever. Yesterday (Monday) I brought Noah to emerge where they took another urine sample (the one from Friday was somehow lost or something...). Noah's bladder is indeed growing something, yet because of the irregular size and shape of Noah's bladder - we learned that his bladder is from hip to hip in length - this is considered normal for him.
We will hear tomorrow whether these numbers are still in Noah's normal ranger, or if they are too high and need to be treated.
In this, we see again how little control we have over the course of our lives and how well our Heavenly Father takes care of us and provides us with all that we stand in need of.
Noah has an appointment at the end of the week for a pre-admission. In the beginning of April Noah is scheduled to have a port-a cathater inserted. This is a permanent IV which is inserted into the chest and will be just under the skin. When/if Noah needs IV treatment for any kind, this is a very easy access and will prevent him from needing to be poked multiple times to find a vein.
We're trying not to dwell on this procedure and instead focus on the positive outcome that it should result in.
