This year I have received the best Valentine's Day and birthday present - NOAH IS HOME! (of course, also great was Rob's special gift and plans).
Noah's chest is clear and he is breathing well on his own. He was so happy to hear the word home and be packed up to come home! We all enjoyed a wonderful evening at home together, dinner together, which Noah really enjoyed and ate very well.
Rob and I both checked on the kids before bed last night and spent time just watching all 3 of our children sleeping. We take so many day-to-day activities for granted and to get back to 'normal' was and is wonderful!
Today, as much as I would love to be spending the day at home doing 'normal' things, our basement is being sanded and mudd-ed again. The timing for this may not be great with Noah being home, but it also needs to be done and so we are out for the day so that we don't need to breath in all the dust. (An early thank you to the ladies who are willing to clean for me this evening, it means so much!).
Yeah for the basement getting done!
Yesterday Noah was scheduled for a EMG (electromyography). This is a test to check how well nerves transmit information to the brain. Noah was scheduled for this test because of his tethered spinal cord - the base of Noah's spinal cord is attached much further down than that of most people and as he grows, these nerves will become tight and will affect his growth and leg movement. The neurosurgeon feels very strongly that, sometime in the near future, Noah should have surgery to release these tight nerves so that his spine will be able to grow properly with him and Noah will be able to maintain leg movement.
Of course, this is all difficult to think about after the last surgery, not to mention after this last hospital admission. Yet we will take things one day at a time and continue to hold Noah in prayer and we make decisions for Noah.
We want to thank you all again for your continued support and prayers. A special thanks also to the fabulous nursing staff at Victoria Hospital for taking such good care of Noah - you girls are fabulous!
