There are some words that one does not want to hear in discription of your child; Medically fragile is one of them.
This week, in discussion with one of the doctors, she used this word to decribe Noah and it made my heart skip a beat. She has been, and remains, quite concerned about Noah. He gets so sick, so fast, that even the smallest illness is enough to completely knock him out.
She also made me realize just how very close we came to losing Noah 2 weeks ago. That scares me. I don't think any of us realized just how sick he was, or may be we did, we just blocked it from our minds in order to cope. Regardless, it was too close, and we pray that this doesn't happen again.
Noah is doing somewhat better after getting sick again.
On Thursday they put a picc line in (a more permanent IV that goes in the arm, is stitched in place and goes near the heart. This went in on the first try!
With this picc line, Noah can come home and receive IV meds here at home.
Noah was still very uncomfortable yesterday (Friday) but thankfully he is able to eat and drink when he wants to, which does a lot to improve his mood!
All of Noah's tests came back negative, which we are thanful for. The doctors are quite sure that the reason that Noah got sick again is b/c his IV came out and since they could not get it back in, they discontinued his med. They believe that the infection never totally went away, and that even though tests came back negative, there was a bladder infection beginning to brew again.
We pray that this is the case and that something more serious is not being overlooked.
