We write this email to inform you that, once again, things with Noah have changed.
Over the weekend Noah's abscess has grown quite a bit. Noah is also stooling a lot, which, although a good thing, is also not good in that it is causing the abscess to grow larger.
A fresh set of doctor eyes feel strongly that this abscess not only needs to be drained, but also needs time to heal. In order for this to happen, Noah would need to be given an ostomy again, meaning that Noah's bowels will be lifted up through his tummy and he will once again stool in a bag.
This was not an easy decision to need to make, as this means that the past eight weeks have truly been 1 step forward and 10 steps back. Yet we also realize that if things continue on as they are, Noah's bum will not heal properly and further infection will set in.
We also know that Noah needs time to gain back his strength and put some weight back on. As a family, we also need things to be normal here at home for a longer period of time.
After having a night to pray and think about all of this, and to speak with the surgeon again, we have decided that this is the best option for Noah at this time. The past eight weeks have sapped him of strength and he needs a break.
The surgery will take place late this afternoon, early evening and we ask that you would uphold Noah, the surgeon as well as us in your prayers.
