Things just start to look better…and then something jumps up to set us back again.
Noah was SO happy yesterday afternoon; it was such a comfort to see him talking, smiling and pointing.
Yesterday at noon, Noah’s IV came out. When I saw this, I was happy, thinking that the nurses had taken it out and Noah could now be IV free. To my disappointment, it needed to be put back in. Noah is a difficult child to IV, with his veins being very hard to find and I cannot even begin to count how many times he has been poked this hospital stay for an IV (at least 20 times for his second surgery alone).
Now they say that he needs to have a picc line put in (which is a more permanent IV) b/c he needs to be on these medications for another 4-5 days.
It is all so very frustrating and my heart is aching for all that Noah has gone through and, it appears, must yet still go through. It is so difficult to understand why this road seems to be never ending. This has been a long road for us as parents, and an even longer one for Noah.
