'...count it all joy when you fall into various trials...' James 1:2
'...yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation...
'Habakkuk. 3:18
'...rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks...'
1 Thessalonians 16-18a
We have all read and heard these texts so often we can repeat them by heart. Our hearts know these truths and yet our mouths do not so readily perform them: ALL JOY, REJOICE, IN EVERYTHING.
We have certainly been put to the test in these areas of our faith lives and continually come up short. Once again the question that comes to mind is 'why?', 'what is the reason for all of this?'.
This hospital stay has become Noah's longest stay, longer even, than his NICU stay after birth. Noah has been in the hospital now for just under 5 weeks. This stay was supposed to end today, as Noah was going to be coming home, yet we are disappointed again b/c he is not.
Noah's IV came out on Sunday evening. After trying (too many times) to put another one in, they finally decided that they were not going to replace it. Noah was almost finished with the IV med that they discontinued it instead.
Noah was doing so well. So well in fact, that he was pretty much back to the Noah we all know and love!
On Monday we were told that we could take Noah home on Tuesday, but knowing the way things have been going, we wanted to keep him in the hospital till Wednesday (today) to make sure that he was doing well without the IV.
This has turned out to be a blessed decision. During our visit with Noah yesterday he was quite fussy and uncomfortable, just wanting to be held. He settled down and slept thorough the night well. This morning he did not want anything to do with eating and he started to vomit.
This is a complete repeat of what we went through last Sunday.
They put another IV in and started Noah back on meds and within 6 hours he had perked up quite a bit, which was wonderful to see. It is heartbreaking to see your child in pain and uncomfortable and know that there is nothing that you can do for them, even though you would trade placces with them in a hearbeat.
The doctors are unsure at this point what is causing all of this. Test results and further xrays and ultrasound will be received and done tomorrow and we pray that they may shed some light into the complications that Noah is again facing.
We know in our hearts that Noah is in the loving care of the Master Physician and we pray that He may use this to strengthen us and darw us ever nearer to His throne of grace and that He may see fit to strengthen Noah and to being him home to us again.
'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' Matthew 11:28
