We realize we have kept you waiting for news on today. Thanks for your patience!
Noah's surgery was on time and went really well. They noticed that Noah's urethra was actually not closing but that it has an extra 'pocket' in it and that is what was making it hard for us to get the catheter in. This means that urine should pass through well, but for now they will keep a catheter in for the next 7 to 10 days.
They also took excess skin off of Noah's bladder, as well as his stomach (like a tummy tuck I suppose you could say!).
While there, the surgeon also noticed that Noah's testes are quite high and decided to begin the process of lowering them. He started with one and will continue with this in 4 to 6 months.
All said, Noah was in the OR for 2.5 hours. He stayed in recovery for 3 hours as he was not maintaining his oxygen levels without some help.
He has now been moved up to ward and is still on a low level of oxygen.
We cannot believe that after all he has been through Noah has been quite quiet and is resting very peacefully. Even Rob, knowing what surgery on your stomach feels like, is amazed!
Noah is such a trooper and we praise God that things have gone so well and pray that He will grant Noah a speedy recovery with minimal setbacks.
