Today Noah is 5 months old! What a blessing this is. However, our poor sweetheart is celebrating this milestone in a very unexpected way.
Here is a copy of an email we recently sent out:
As some of you know, and most of you don't, our holidays were cut short this week when we brought Noah in to see the doctor about his cough. He has been fighting a cold for the last 2 weeks now, and with his lack of abdominal muscles he has a difficult time coughing anything up. This has made his feeding more difficult and he has not been getting enough to eat, so we decided to have the doctors look at him. Since then he has been admitted to London's Childrens Hospital, where they determined that he has pneumonia. This is enough for any child on their own, but with Noah's lack of ability to cough, and his undersized lungs due to his bladder size, this is serious. Since last night his right lung has began filling with fluid, and so early this morning he was transferred to Pediatric Critical Care Unit.
Since being moved here he showed little improvement as his body continued to labour for each breath. Even on 100 percent oxygen, he still was not getting enough. Because of this and the fact that Noah was completely exhausted, the doctors decided to intubate and fully ventilate Noah. He is now sedated, resting comfortably, as the machines breath for him and the antibiotics work to clear his pneumonia.
We hope and pray that the LORD in His
good pleasure will spare Noah for us, and also give us peace and trust which we all so often need. Pray for us and Noah.
