Week 2

'Praise the LORD all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us; and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!' Psalm 117.

Busy. This one little word sums up our lives during the past 2 weeks. Rob went back to work again last week, and he’s working nights. This makes his days really busy when he goes to the hospital because he wakes up, goes to London, comes home and goes to work. And we have been visiting the hospital every day (at least one of us does). And of course, there are Danielle and Jordan who need looking after. They are really feeling the effects of having Noah in the hospital and have a rough time of it when we leave them. They cry like crazy when we leave, which tears at our hearts and brings tears to our eyes. It certainly makes things harder for us, knowing how hard it is on them.

In the busyness of life, it is so easy to loose sight of all of the things that are important in life. We have come to realize just how precious each and every moment is, with all of our children, as well as with each other. It is important to take time to listen, to say ‘I love you’, to give a hug, read a book or do a craft.

The LORD has shown us time and again how faithful He is. He has given us 2 healthy children, and has given us much more with Noah than we ever though possible. Our God truly is a God of miracles! He has carried us when we have found it difficult to place one foot in front of the other and dried our tears when they have fallen. He has also given us much to be thankful for in the way of the communion of saints. It has been so amazing to learn how many people are praying for us and know who ‘baby Noah’ is! The meals, cards, gift cards and offers of help have meant so much to us and been so helpful. (If you have offered help and we’ve not taken you up on it, it isn’t because it’s been forgotten. Once we know whether we’re coming or going we’ll figure things out and call you!).

Noah has been doing really well! He is now up to full feeds – 60mls+ every three hours. This is very exciting! Everything is functioning to the doctors’ satisfaction and we praise the LORD for this. All of the nurses at St. Joe's are absolutely in love with Noah, and are constantly commenting on what a content baby he is! The is something for which we give thanks, as if he was not so content, it would make his care a little more difficult.

Tomorrow they hope to move Noah to Victoria Hospital. We are little sad at this because we really like St. Joe’s and are comfortable there. The staff is wonderful and Noah is getting such great care where he is. Nevertheless, all the specialists are at Victoria and at some point this week they hope to replace the tube in Noah’s urethra with a slightly larger one. While he is there, other specialists will also be taking a look at Noah, and the LORD willing, we will be given some more direction as to Noah’s care from here.

At this point we are still not sure when Noah will be coming home. There is still much for us to learn in taking care of him, and I’m sure that will take a while to learn. It is quite overwhelming to think of everything that will need to be done, and so we don’t look that far ahead – one day at a time!

‘I will wait for the LORD…and I will hope in him.’ Isaiah 8:17

Comments

  1. All the best with the move today Anne. I can imagine it feels a little bit like "leaving home" right now, but God will continue to provide for you and Noah as you settle in at Victoria. I hope that it will be easier for you to visit Noah as a family there too, so you don't always have to leave Danielle and Jordan behind.
    Remembering you all in prayer.
    Will and Chris.
