Thankfulness

I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. Ps 138:1-3

Spring... what a beautiful and refreshing time of year. God breathes and the cold winds of winter give way to warm breezes, and the hard ground gives way to soft soil. Birds sing their praise to God, and flowers begin to bloom and blossom, tenderly holding onto life.... and so it is with our son, Noah Jacob Lenting, a precious gift born to us April 9 2011. After many months of uncertainty, and some long days of waiting, he came into this world quickly. There was a team of doctors waiting for him, and they spent some time checking him over. He was breathing on his own, and crying softly and so they deemed him well enough that we were able to hold, snuggle and talk to him for 15 minutes on our own before he was taken to the NICU (neo-natal intensive care unit). Already in this we were given more than we expected, and we feel truly blessed to not have empty arms upon Noah's birth.

Noah has not had an easy time the past two and a half days, but he is still here with us. He has exceeded doctors expectations...what a miracle and rich blessing this is. We praise God that He has given Noah strength to carry on. Noah had surgery on Sunday afternoon already and this was very difficult for us. We were able to say goodbye and Anne was able to hold him briefly before they took him to the operating room. It was hard to see our 1 day old baby taken, and to imagine him being operated on, and waiting to hear news of how it went. Trust in the Lord always, and lean not on your own understanding. We are learning that in a strong way. Thankfully Danielle was with us for the afternoon and with the beautiful weather we were able to take her to the park to distract ourselves. Anne sent this email to the family to explain the surgery -

"Noah had a 'good' night last night. I went in to see him this morning, and of course he was as cute as ever!
The nurse was about to take some blood from him, in preparation for his surgery this afternoon. I was very thankful to be there for this as I was able to hold his hand and talk to him, as he was not overly impressed with the procedure. I have to admit that it was difficult to see- them poking my little baby and hurting him.
Noah went in for surgery this afternoon. We were able to see him and I was even able to hold him for a minute. What a blessing this was. I was sad that Rob did not get to, as they were waiting to take him down to the operating room. Yet it has been a great blessing that Danielle has been able to see, touch and kiss Noah. She is quite excited about her little brother!
The operation this afternoon went well. It was just under 2 hours. Our Noah is such a little trooper, and for this we praise our Heavenly Father.
They were able to bypass the blockage in the urethra and have placed a tube in it to keep the passage open. As time goes on the tube will need to be changed and gradually made larger to bring the passage to the size that it needs to be. An opening was made on Noah's tummy and a tube inserted into his bladder in order for it to drain again.
They also noticed that Noah's bladder had an extra 'pocket' on it and they removed this and closed it up.
Noah also has no anus (bum hole), so his colon was also taken out his side a bit and it is now able to drain into a bag off his tummy. This needed to be done as it was getting rather backed up.
Noah did well during the surgery and is now sleeping quite a bit as he is being medicated for the pain. We are thankful that his body is now being emptied as it should and that Noah is now ready to be fed milk!"

We have so much to praise our heavenly Father for, and easy delivery, good recovery, Noah's life and continued life, and the sustenance and strangth that the LORD has provided for all of us. The staff here have been wonderful, and we have truly seen the hand of the LORD at work, in ours and Noah's lives.
Please continue to pray for us and Noah's continued perseverance.

I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. Ps 34:1-3

  1. "Now to him who is able to immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen."

So very thankful for all the blessings you have been given thus far, and we pray that God will continue to strengthen and sustain you and Noah, along with Danielle and Jordan, in the days to come.

  2. Congratulations Rob and Anne!! A precious gift, beautifully and miraculously fashioned by the Creator, to serve for His glory! Noah already has served for that purpose as we all give thanks and marvel at the gift of life and also as we rejoice in the strength God gives to those who trust in Him. May He continue to sustain the life He has made and may you receive all you need to face the challenges that lay ahead.

  5. We continue to hold you and Noah in our prayers.. he is precious in every way and is adorable... he looks just like Jordon I think! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!! It is hard for us to hear that he is in pain as well and we pray that God carry you and Noah through all that lies ahead.. so hard that we live farther away and I wish I could do something to help you out, but I found out that Soph was coming down to late to send anything along with her... for now just know that we are thinking and constantly praying for you.
