‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.’ Hymn 6
I write today’s blog with much joy in my heart, as well as some anxiety: tomorrow we get to bring Noah home!
The original plan for this week was the on Tuesday Noah was going to be moved to Victoria Hospital. That morning, there was no bed available for him there, so he stayed in the NICU at St. Joe’s and they were going to try again for today. Again, there was no bed available for him. Since Noah is doing so well: on full feedings, off his ivs and is not sick, (not to mention the fact that they need his bed!) they decided that rather than wait for a bed to become available at Victoria, he can come home.
We were quite shocked when they told us this, as we had never been given even an estimate as to when Noah could come home, and suddenly they are telling us he can come home now! We went to the hospital yesterday and were again shown how to change Noah’s bags and take care of his skin. Today we went in with a car seat for Noah’s ‘car seat challenge’ – when a baby leaves the NICU, he needs to sit in a car seat for 90 minutes to have his heart rate, oxygen levels and breathing tested to make sure that they can handle being in the upright position. Thankfully Noah passed this test and can come home in a regular car seat!
So, tomorrow morning Rob and I are going to pick Noah up and bring him to Victoria. When the procedure is done, we can bring him home! We will have Home Care for the next little while - a nurse will come here every day to help us out, answer any questions and help us get the materials that we need to properly take care of Noah.
Of course, now there will be many appointments and other trips that we will need to make. And many other adjustments that will need to be made, but at least we will all be home together as a family. Danielle is quite excited to have Noah coming home, and Jordan finally gets to meet his little brother!
God has been SO good to us. 3 weeks ago we did not think we would have a child, and now, 2.5 weeks after he was born he will be coming home! He truly is a God of miracles, and we will never forget that! We have much to be thankful for.

Just 'discovered' this new post. God truly is a God of grace isn't He; we praise Him with you for this gift, given in His mercy and love! He will prove faithful too in providing the strength to care for this special child of His. May He be near as you are (re)united as a family and in all the challenges and adjustments in the days ahead....
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord!!!! This post brought tears of joy to my eyes. I'm so happy for you! :D
