'God is love.' 1 John 4:8b
Yesterday was valentine's day, a day in which we celebrate our love for each other.
Yesterday was also the day we had another doctors appointment, and in which we were given yet another glimpse of the love the LORD has for us.
It was a routine appointment, with a regular ultrasound. When the technician was finished collecting her data, she asked me if we had ever had a 3D ultrasound done. I said 'no' and she said 'well, let's try'. So she hooked up the right machine, and sure enough - IT WORKED! (In case you didn't know a 3D ultrasound is external, so it shows what a baby looks like). This was something that we were not planning on doing, and which most people have to pay for, yet it was unexpectedly given to us. While the technician went to go get Rob, I was left lying there, looking at a picture of my child's face. I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes; they were not sad tears, but rather tears of joy.
Now, not only does our baby have a gender, and a name, he also has a face!
It was completely unexpected, seeing his face, and it makes things that much more real for us, which will of course, at times, make things more difficult. But it was a blessing, because at the very least, we have this. God has shown has the face of our son and no matter what happens, it is one that we will cherish forever.
In medical news, he is growing well, movements and heart rate continue to be strong. However, he now has fluid in his abdomin, as well as his bladder. (We are not entirely sure what this means, and the doctors really didn't expand on it). Thankfully there is no fluid in his chest at this point.
I continue to gain more fluid, making me measure larger than normal and also making my body think that I am farther along. We now have to see how long things will continue on.
It continues to be a waiting game, as there is nothing that can be done for Noah until he is born.
It is difficult to prepare, because we are not sure what to prepare for. We pray that the LORD will continue to be with Noah, and will grant us the strength and peace we need for whatever lies ahead.

Wow, Anne, this is absolutely beautiful. You're right, God is love, all consuming love! We are so thankful that even in this you were blessed with a 3D ultrasound and that you may now be able to see your son's face as you wait patiently for what the Lord has in store for you and your son. May God continue to grant you all what you stand in need of during these precious weeks ahead!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love, Rick and Deanna
I wasn't sure if you were planning to share your baby's name, so I didn't ask. I think that's a GREAT choice. Love it. In fact, it would have been high on my list if we have another boy, but it looks like you've definitely got dibs on it. :o)
ReplyDeleteEvery extra week is a gift for you and your baby. Praying for you and little Noah daily. May you be able to find the peace that passes all understanding, as you rest in your Father's hands.
With love, Will and Chris.
